Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council on behalf of four Tees Local Authorities (Stockton-on-Tees, Redcar & Cleveland, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough) are looking to recruit to a full time appointment for a Substance Misuse and Deaths Prevention Co-ordinator.
The postholder will be driven, organised, flexible and creative and be a strong team player.
This is an exciting and innovative opportunity to support the development and implementation of our ambition to both reduce substance misuse related deaths in Tees, and also implement a local multi-agency process to assist in reviewing any drug and alcohol related deaths. The Preventing Substance Misuse Deaths Co-ordinator’s priority areas will include:
1. Update existing paperwork regarding information gathering on drug/alcohol related deaths, implementing a standard format across Tees.
2. Develop robust information sharing agreements with key agencies.
3. Act as a single point of contact for notifications of deaths, drug alerts and near misses for Tees, and linking in with regional networks.
4. Analyse information gathered on substance misuse related deaths, and share learning with partner organisations on any lessons learnt and good practice.
5. Identify trends in deaths from preventable illnesses and how services might be able to intervene earlier.
The post holder will have a proven track record of co-ordinating and influencing partnership led work, implementing new processes, interpreting data and report writing.
Applicants should have experience of:
1. Developing collaborative working relationships.
2. Informing the production of action plans and reports.
3. Contributing to health needs assessments.
4. Understanding key issues and challenges within the field of substance misuse.
