Our client, a leading provider in the defence sector, is currently seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join their team. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in high-impact projects within the defence industry. The role is based in Barrow, Frimley, Filton, or Weymouth, with occasional travel to other sites, including Milton Keynes.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading systems engineering activities related to power electronics and power systems.
Developing, maintaining, and overseeing the system architecture for submarine solutions.
Managing requirements and ensuring compliance with electrical and functional safety standards.
Creating and validating designs for electrical systems including 48Vdc power supplies and battery technology.
Ensuring electrical systems are compliant with relevant standards and safety protocols such as IEC 61508.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
Maintaining thorough documentation of systems engineering activities.
Job Requirements:
Experience in systems engineering, particularly within the defence sector.
Strong knowledge of electrical design, including 48Vdc power supplies and battery technology.
Understanding of various electrical cable and connector types.
Familiarity with electrical and functional safety standards, such as IEC 61508 and intrinsic safety protocols.
