Cambridge Community Foundation is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Development Associate to support our philanthropic efforts and donor services. This full-time position plays a key role in managing and streamlining development operations, including donation in-take and acknowledgment, fund holder and donor services, data management, and system processes.
As part of a dynamic team, the Senior Development Associate will work closely with the development team to ensure excellence in the donation process, strengthen donor relationships and ensure seamless administrative support for the development team. The role will also assist with targeted campaigns, events, and donor communications as the Foundation implements its 5-year strategic plan, launched in October 2023.
This position is based in the Central Square neighborhood and close to public transportation at 99 Bishop Allen Drive, Cambridge. Foundation staff currently operate on a hybrid schedule, in person three days per week. Participation in some evening and weekend events is required.
Roles and Responsibilities
Development Administration
1. Manage and execute donation processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness on the intake and acknowledgment of gifts.
2. Perform high-quality data entry and maintain the integrity of donor records.
3. Oversee and optimize system processes, including gift acknowledgment, tribute card distribution, and donor recognition.
4. Oversee online donation portal and customize online fundraising campaigns for various campaigns and purposes.
5. Manage and maintain information on online platforms such as Benevity, Givengain, etc; draft foundation’s profiles and entries on portals and applications.
6. Manage and execute key development tasks such as donor mailings, donation and other key follow-up reminders, tracking of donor commitments, etc.
7. Work closely with finance department to ensure coordination on donation records, funds and other related matters.
Donor Services
1. Serve as a point of contact for donation inquiries, delivering prompt and professional communication with donors or their advisors.
2. Write and submit donor reports, including annual civic leadership updates and reports focused on specific impact areas.
3. Provide comprehensive support to fund partners engaged in fundraising activities, such as support with grant applications, online donation page creation, and other support as needed.
Other Development Support
1. Assist in the planning and execution of key development initiatives, including annual appeals, events, and targeted fundraising campaigns.
2. Effectively manage and leverage marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, WordPress, Adobe) to support development campaigns, donor outreach, and other projects.
3. Contribute to ongoing data upkeep projects by ensuring accuracy and consistency across development databases.
4. Other tasks as assigned.
Experience and Required Skills
1. A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
2. A deep-rooted personal commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive work environment and fostering a positive workplace culture of collaboration and respect.
3. 2-5 years of prior, relevant work experience, preferably in a nonprofit or foundation setting.
4. Detail oriented, strong organization, time-management, and project management skills.
5. Ability to follow, develop, and consistently optimize processes.
6. Strong collaboration and communication with team members and partners both internally and externally.
7. Curiosity and interest in learning about the unique positioning of a community foundation.
8. Trustworthy and dependable; ability to respect confidential information. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
9. Quick and eager learner.
10. A team player comfortable with working in a fast-paced, growing organization that sometimes requires “all hands-on deck”.
11. Strong technology skills and comfort with digital platforms. Proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office 365 tools, Zoom and other office tools; prior experience working with a CRM is a plus.
12. Familiarity with a coding language (such as HTML, Adobe Creative Suite) and workflow efficiency apps (such as Monday.com) is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, salaried position with full benefits including 3 weeks paid vacation plus 40 hours of sick time each fiscal year (prorated), plus 13 paid holidays, subsidized Health and Dental insurance (75% covered by CCF), Vision/Life/Disability insurance (100% covered by CCF), and a 403(b) plan to which the Foundation has historically made an annual discretionary profit-sharing contribution. Compensation range is $55,000 - $60,000 commensurate with experience.
