Procurement and Supply Chain Manager - Swindon
Costain are working with Thames Water on a variety of water and wastewater projects and have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Procurement and Supply Chain Manager to join our growing AMP8 delivery team, working predominantly across the Thames Valley and Thames South regions. The role of the Framework Procurement and Supply Chain (P&SC) Manager is to lead project subcontract procurement and be an advisor for project stakeholders along with post-contract award supply chain management and contribute to the development and deployment of direct category strategies for group business needs. Operating within the sector P&SC team, you will work closely with the project leads, senior P&SC Manager and other members of the P&SC management team. You will be responsible for ensuring that your framework P&SC strategy is deployed and implemented, balancing and optimising both the operational requirements of our projects and the strategic goals of our Group objectives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the sector, driving efficiency, sustainability, and innovation within the procurement and supply chain function.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for and be able to demonstrate:
1. Delivering procurement (pre-contract) & supply chain management (post-contract) across their sector, providing direction and support.
2. Collaborating seamlessly with the pre-construction estimating team and the post-award commercial team under our One Team, One Costain vision.
3. Utilising the procurement process to enable ECI, guiding the team on the decision-making criteria such as the maturity of the design, the preservation of commercial tension, and the relationship with the proposed ECI 2-stage Subcontractor.
4. Project management of subcontract procurement activities, delivering predictable best-in-class outcomes which enable the project team to meet all key dates and milestones.
5. Ensuring a robust and structured supply chain exists to service the requirements of the projects, fully complying with the 'How-to-Buy Process'.
6. Enabling the drive towards Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives.
7. Promoting collaboration between the business and the supply chain to unlock value through innovation and best practice.
8. Developing strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to democratise the procurement process.
9. Supply Chain Performance Management, including managing under-performance with successful corrective action planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Essential:
1. Previous experience working in a similar level role.
2. Clear enthusiasm for driving improvement in best practice.
3. Extensive knowledge of procurement and supply chain management.
4. Operational Procurement & Supply Chain skills relevant to the construction industry.
5. Excellent Microsoft Office suite proficiency.
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of Infrastructure Industry Procurement and Supply Chain Operations.
2. Experience of negotiating heavily modified NEC3/NEC4 subcontracts.
Qualifications:
Essential: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Desirable: CIPS Qualified.
