Salary: £41,000 per annum + £1758 Island allowance
Location: Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
Contract/Hours: Permanent / Full Time - 37 hours per week.

A bit about the service
Hillcrest is a 5 bedded children's home which accommodates children and young people who need to be looked after and offers short breaks for children with additional needs. You will be part of a team to meet the needs of all the children in our care. The children need consistent, caring, empathetic staff who will support them to develop to their full potential. Each child will have an individualised child's plan with set outcomes which you will work towards. Knowledge of trauma and its impact on development is beneficial,
A bit about the role
Some key responsibilities of the Registered Manager role are.
Hillcrest is based in Stornoway in the Isle of Lewis and has been run by Action for Children, on behalf of the Local Authority since 1997. Previous Registered Managers have stayed in the role, on average for 9 years. Action for Children has 7 more services across the Outer Hebrides, supporting children, young people and their families from Lewis down to Barra
Hillcrest is a registered service assessed by the Care Inspectorate. Therefore, as the Registered Manager you will have overall responsibility for the management of the home and ensure it meets the Care Inspectorate the standards. You will be supported and line managed by the Children's services manager

* Provide a safe environment where children and young people can thrive.
* Provide direct care and support to children in all aspects of their support needs which involves working in partnership with Children's services, Health, education and Third Sector.
* Work towards giving children a positive experience of being away from home and support them and their wider family to build stronger relationships.
* Help children in all aspects of their daily lives and supporting their health and happiness.

Below outlines what will help make you a great candidate if you are considering applying.
* Scotland SVQ Level 4 Management & Leadership or whilst a management qualification would be great, we are open to those with experience in a management role within a residential/social care setting.
* Experience in Management of a large team working towards meeting outcomes.
* Knowledge and understanding of the Scotland-Care Inspectorate requirements.
* Satisfactory fit person interview with the Scotland-Care Inspectorate and registration.
* Previous experience of working with young people who have had adverse life experience and need support with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
* Previous experience of supporting young people with complex health care and behavioural support needs would be an advantage.
* Line management of up to 10 staff, offering monthly supervision and the overview of the wider team.
