Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role: We are recruiting for our unique supported living service, set in the beautiful Dorset countryside. The people we support have learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and mental health support needs. They have a beautiful home, with communal gardens, in which they enjoy spending time during the summer months. They enjoy watching the wildflowers bloom and planting their vegetable patches. There is a great community spirit and often there are events, such as lunches, games of rounders, football tournaments, and BBQ’s amongst many others. They also enjoy a range of activities in the community. They like to enjoy being out and about, no matter what the weather, so are looking for t eam members who encourage them to be as independent as possible, and to make their own choices The people we support like you to take them out using your own vehicle, which will need to be insured for business purposes. They would love you to be a good listener, as sometimes having someone to talk to is all they need. They hope you can remain calm in difficult situations, and can problem solve, whilst being reassuring too. It is important that the people we support have their wishes taken into consideration, and that you can communicate in a positive and honest way. Your values: We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life ; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
