This is a full time position based in our office in Manchester, UK. Primary Function: The Systems Engineer (Internally Components Engineer) will provide dedicated electronics component engineering expertise for Supply Chain Engineering team and CPI currency acceptor products. Supply Chain Engineering implements engineering changes to resolve supply chain delays, resolve obsolete material, implement productivity projects, and improve product quality. The primary objectives for the position will be conceptual research, hardware design, validation design, and implementation of engineering changes. Responsibilities: - Independent leadership of assigned projects to resolve obsolescence issues, productivity projects, and quality improvement projects - Communicate with key stakeholders and define project requirements, constraints, and acceptance criteria - Hands-on prototyping and circuit analysis in an electronics lab environment - Generate schematics and perform detailed circuit analysis to verify design compliance to specific performance targets. - Create, simulate, prototype and implement value engineering product and part redesigns - Thoroughly document qualification test results in detailed technical test reports - Manage projects and create/track project plans for PCBA redesign, supplier transfer, cost reductions and various other support projects - Participate in design reviews and design related brainstorming events - Travel to manufacturing, supplier, and customer sites as needed with appropriate notice - Assist manufacturing facility with root cause analysis and quality improvement projects - Must be able to work with and lead diverse teams spanning multiple sites as well as be able to work independently - Must manage their own career development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology. - Support activities within the global CPI Supply Chain Engineering team. Job Requirements: - Must have experience in the design and development of digital and analogue electronics principles and design. - Familiarity with design and biasing of bipolar transistors and MOSFETs in oscillator and closed loop opto control systems. - Able to specify suitable opamp / comparator for specific functions without over specifying with cost disadvantage. - Track record in power switching circuits including the specification of suitable power switches and flywheel diodes. - Familiarity with resonant circuits based on opamp and comparitor building blocks. - Some background in motor drive systems, perhaps in choice of brushless dc motors and drivers. - Good awareness of optical and electromagnetic sensors and their functionality. - General awareness of new technologies and their benefits. - Able to use schematic capture [Cadstar, Mentor Graphics]. - Able to demonstrate technical expertise and technical delivery. - Able to develop and manage a sub-project within the broader constraints of the overall project plan. - Innovative and able to convert concepts into reality. - Practical application of electronics design relating to EMC theory. - Able to communicate, take part and contribute in technical discussions with other engineers and senior managers. - Ability to deliver and complete projects to strict deadlines. - Requires an Engineering qualification in a related discipline. - Experience in electronics design.
