Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dietitian with a strong interest in public health, who enjoys joined up community working. The successful post holder will form a vital part of the Public Health/Health Improvement Dietetic Team and will be supporting community nutrition initiatives, these will include support for Early Years Services and Older Adult Services. This is a key service to support the long-term plan to prevent and reduce obesity in Gwent, and to provide the foundations for an increase in the number of children and adults who are a healthy weight as part of "Building a Healthier Gwent". The post holder will work with the public health dietetics team, Service Lead, and a range of community partners to deliver preventative programmes in community settings. Main duties of the job The purpose of the role is to train and upskill community practitioners and volunteers working with families and children in food and nutrition. This will enable them to support population improvement in diet and enable children to have the best start in life. You will be a key part of the Nutrition Skills for Life team, delivering Community Food and Nutrition kills for the Early Years courses and supporting community nutrition initiatives. As an autonomous practitioner the post holder will establish new and innovative working practices in collaboration with health, local authority, leisure, social services, voluntary sector and other agencies. They will liaise with other disciplines and agencies in order to ensure a coordinated approach to the development and delivery of preventative nutrition and dietetic programmes. With dietetic colleagues they will develop appropriate resources for programme delivery, reviewing and updating products and content to meet changing demands. The post holder will be based at Ty Gwent but cover all of ABUHB. Some home working can be included for virtual tasks as appropriate. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
