About the Role:
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Teaching Assistant to join our agency and provide flexible support to schools across Derby. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support the delivery of lessons and assist with the overall learning and development of students in both individual and group settings.
You will play a key role in creating an inclusive learning environment, providing additional support to students who need it, and contributing to the smooth running of the classroom. This position offers a variety of experiences in different school settings, allowing you to build your skills while making a positive impact on students’ education.
Key Responsibilities:
* Classroom Support: Assist the teacher in the delivery of lessons by helping students understand tasks and keeping them engaged.
* One-to-One & Small Group Support: Provide additional help to students who may need extra support with their work, including those with special educational needs (SEN), learning difficulties, or behavioral challenges.
* Classroom Management: Support the teacher in maintaining a positive and focused learning environment, managing student behavior in accordance with the school’s policies.
* Supporting Differentiation: Help adapt learning activities to suit the varying needs of students and ensure all students are included and supported.
* Preparing Learning Materials: Assist in preparing and organizing teaching resources and classroom activities.
* Monitoring Progress: Help with the observation and tracking of student progress, reporting back to the teacher as required.
* Providing Pastoral Support: Build relationships with students, offering encouragement and emotional support where necessary.
* Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Adhere to safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
Key Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children in an educational setting (e.g., classroom assistant, volunteer work, etc.).
* A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to work well with children of all backgrounds and abilities.
* Ability to work under the direction of the teacher, but also use your initiative when needed.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
* A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check on the update system (or willingness to obtain one).
* Basic knowledge of child safeguarding and the ability to follow school policies.
Desirable Attributes:
* Experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN).
* First Aid certification (desirable but not essential).
* Ability to quickly adapt to new school environments and routines.
* Flexibility and a positive attitude towards agency work.
