Working Hours- 38-hour week Benefits: Life Insurance, Medicash scheme, Free car parking on site, Canteen and Career progression. wbstaff Job Title: Quality Manager Department: Quality Reports To: Head of Quality Purpose of Post The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the quality assurance and quality control processes within their area of responsibility. This role ensures that all products meet or exceed customer expectations and comply with safety, regulatory, and industry standards. The Quality Manager will lead a team of quality professionals, working closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to implement continuous improvement practices and maintain high standards throughout the manufacturing process. Key Responsibilities: 1. Quality Assurance Strategy: Develop and implement the plant's quality management system (QMS), ensuring alignment with industry standards such as ISO 9001, and regulatory compliance for bus manufacturing. Define and monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs) across production processes. Lead internal audits, and coordinate external audits to maintain certifications and compliance with standards. 2. Process Improvement: Identify, analyse, and resolve quality issues in production, working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to reduce defects, improve efficiency, and maintain product integrity. Implement continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing principles, to enhance product quality and reduce waste. 3. Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train the quality control and assurance team, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively. Foster a culture of quality and accountability throughout the plant, encouraging proactive quality management at all levels of the organisation. 4. Customer and Stakeholder Interaction: Address customer quality concerns and complaints, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions as needed. Ensure customer requirements are integrated into the manufacturing processes and final product checks. Provide reports and updates on quality performance to management and other stakeholders. 5. Quality Control: Oversee the inspection and testing of buses and components during production and at final assembly stages, ensuring all buses meet safety and performance standards. Maintain detailed records of quality inspections, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions. Ensure the proper use of inspection tools and equipment, maintaining calibration standards. 6. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all quality control activities align with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Promote and enforce adherence to workplace safety standards throughout the quality processes. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic engineering, business, or related field with 3 plus years experience in a quality role Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of quality standards (ISO 9001 or similar), bus manufacturing processes, welding standards, and safety regulations. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Proficient in quality control software and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC). Ability to work cross-functionally with different departments. Familiarity with regulatory standards related to vehicle safety (e.g., FMVSS, ECE regulations). Competencies: Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining product quality and safety. Ability to lead teams, foster collaboration, and drive improvements. Proactive and adaptable in managing a dynamic manufacturing environment Understand manufacturing quality management environment. Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation generation. Strong working knowledge of Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/ Preventative Actions. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and or ISO/TS 16949/ IATF 16949 requirements, APQP, Quality Systems requirements or comparable industry standards.
