About the Role
Reporting into the Director of Finance, you will oversee investments worth £115m. The key purpose will be to work closely with the business to deliver a robust framework of control of all financial aspects for investment programmes/projects to ensure that cash is utilised wisely and with maximum return. You will also be responsible for managing the due diligence and performing the financial analysis of any Mergers and Acquisitions opportunities in Commercial.
You will also:
• Develop financials for investment business cases and review the robustness, acting as deputy of Commercial FD liaising with the Chief Commercial Officer and the leadership team.
• Work closely with finance business partners and business stakeholders to influence the shape of complex business cases, gathering requisite inputs (i.e. cost and benefits estimates) and managing them through the authority processes.
• Define the benefits calculation methodology for all business cases.
• Understand variances in business case performance and implement appropriate action to hold senior Directors to account.
• Support and challenge the business to deliver business case benefits, escalating where necessary.
• Construct comprehensive project financials to meet the requirements of the annual investment planning and Capital Book process.
• Work closely with the FP&A Investment Analyst to facilitate upwards reporting and tracking.
• Supports Group Transformational Office to drive change, synergies and efficiencies across the whole end to end investment processes.
About You
To truly excel in this role, you’ll possess, and be able to evidence, the skills and experience listed below:
• At least part qualified accountant (CIMA / ACA/ ACCA) or QBE
• Excellent communicator who can guide colleagues and staff with no financial background in their understanding of financial management.
• Experience in developing complex business cases working with stakeholders to test and challenge assumptions.
• Experienced in driving right level of strategic debate in financial planning through a strong commercial mindset and with high levels of business acumen and experience.
• Ability to move at pace, to proactively identify and drive creative solutions.
• Fully understands the business drivers and the internal / external environment and applies this to deliver value.
• Experience of working within a large a complex matrix organisation and manage multiple, and sometimes conflicting, priorities.
