Role Overview:
We are looking for a Fire Detection Technician to join our dynamic team. This role will involve performing and managing test programmes to ensure the highest standards of fire detection product testing. You will be responsible for following internal quality procedures, generating technical reports, liaising with customers, and ensuring the technical integrity of the service provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage test programmes, ensuring proper control, recording, and reporting.
Generate detailed technical test reports based on testing results.
Analyse technical drawings and set up customer equipment according to operating manuals.
Conduct testing in compliance with European, British, and LPCB test standards (e.g., EN 54).
Communicate regularly with internal teams and customers to resolve technical issues.
Provide customers with project updates and maintain high levels of satisfaction.
Maintain the technical integrity of service and ensure health and safety controls are adhered to at all times.
Success Metrics:
Adherence to internal test procedures and competency development.
Timely delivery of projects within agreed timeframes.
Efficient conduct of testing and minimal health and safety incidents.
Reduction of UKAS non-conformity findings through strict adherence to internal procedures.
What We Are Looking For:
Essential Skills and Experience:
A relevant electronic or mechanical qualification or equivalent.
Hands-on experience with electronic or software-based testing.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
Proven ability to build and maintain good customer relationships.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and databases.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Experience in certification or quality management processes.
Project management experience.
Background in climatic or mechanical testing (shock, vibration, etc.).
Experience within the Fire Detection or product testing industry.
Experience in a UKAS accredited certification environment.
Level-Specific Requirements:
Level 2: Detailed understanding of test methods and standards, note-taking, and report writing skills.
Level 3: Broad experience with established specifications, identifying deviations from test methods, and strong note-taking/report writing skills.
Level 4: Extensive experience with a variety of clients/products, in-depth knowledge of accreditation standards, CPR/MED/TPED/PED, and ISO management systems, including managing impartiality and conflicts of interest.
