Buyer – FMCG Manufacturing

Alexander Steele are proud to be partnering with a leading FMCG manufacturing business in their search for a Buyer to join their procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and proactive individual to join a fast-paced, high-performing operation and make a real impact.
About the Role:
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the procurement and stock of dry goods and packaging materials to meet site production requirements and evolving customer demands. You'll be at the heart of a dynamic supply chain, working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers to ensure smooth, cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage daily and weekly stock levels of dry goods, packaging, and ingredients to support production plans.
* Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring strategic links are in place to support long-term business goals.
* Monitor and respond to demand forecasts, placing timely orders and resolving any procurement-related issues.
* Maximise profitability through efficient purchasing strategies.
* Reconcile daily stock levels and ensure visibility of overstocks and shortages, preventing stock obsolescence.
* Produce and manage daily delivery schedules for incoming goods and packaging.
* Track supplier performance through delivery adherence reporting and provide constructive feedback.
* Work closely with internal departments and supplying sites to ensure alignment across operations.
* Ensure all paperwork and reports are completed accurately and promptly.
* Support function coverage across procurement as required, including covering holidays and sickness.
* Attend internal and external meetings when needed, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation.
* Follow company best practices and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

About You:
* Experience in a buying or procurement role within the FMCG or manufacturing sector is essential.
* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
* Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
* Able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
* A collaborative approach with excellent communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc. preferred).
* Passionate about continuous improvement and delivering results.
