Job Summary
The Emergency Department (ED) is a small-medium friendly department seeing approximately 64,000 adult and paediatric patients per year. The post is fixed term for up to 6 months due to current circumstances within the Health Board. A suitable start date can be agreed. RGH ED has recently made significant changes in response to Health Board changes.
We are a Major Trauma Unit, Stroke Unit and have recently opened our dedicated paediatric area.
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
* Key duties include the examination, investigation, treatment and referral (as appropriate) of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
* To attend safety huddles and handover.
* To ensure IT patient information system is kept up to date.
* To ensure good communication with the Nurse in charge.
* To ensure that you take appropriate breaks.
* To participate in departmental teaching and audit programme.

Job responsibilities
* Shop floor Consultant Supervision 14 hours weekday and 8 hours on weekends.
* 24/7 Middle grade ED Supervision.
* Educational Supervision.
* Departmental induction including dedicated time with our ENPs in Minors and Physios.
* Regular departmental teaching: classroom and Resus sim.
* Dedicated non-clinical time for you to develop your portfolio.
* Opportunities to develop as a Teacher.
* Opportunities to develop point of care ultrasound skills.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
* MBBCh/ MBBS/ relevant medical degree.
* Eligibility to work and live in the UK.
* Up-to-date Advanced Life Support or Advanced Trauma Life Provider.
* Minimum of 2 years work post registration.
* Completion of UK Foundation Programme or equivalent competence sign off.
Desirable
* Completion of courses relevant to Emergency Medicine (e.g. ATLS, APLS, Ultrasound, Airway, Emergency Medicine Radiology).
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Out of hours / Hospital at night experience.
* Experience and participation in audit and/or quality improvement in last 18 months.
* Experience of teaching undergraduates/ postgraduates.
Desirable
* Experience of working in Emergency Medicine or other relevant acute specialties (Anaesthetics, ITU, Acute Medicine).
* Previous experience of working in the NHS in a substantive post or equivalent healthcare system.
