We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Waste Team at Crossness STW. This is a fantastic opportunity for an electrical maintenance technician to join the second-largest STW in the UK. You will join a close-knit team which varies in age and ability, all performing at a high level. This role offers great learning potential with the ability to cross-skill into other disciplines.
As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.
What you'll be doing as an Electrical Technician
* Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process, which may involve diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
* Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
* Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, and chemical handling equipment.
What you should bring to the role:
* Considerable experience in electrical and systems, with a time-served apprenticeship in an engineering sector, NVQ level 3 or greater in electrical engineering.
* Qualifications in BS7671 or 18th Edition electrical wiring regulations, with experience in maintaining, testing, installing and fault diagnosis on electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
* Experience with 3-phase systems.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies and processes are essential.
* Physical fitness as the work will require working in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
* Participation in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment for which you will receive additional payment.
* A full UK driving licence is essential.
* Undertaking role-specific training to fulfil any safety and team competency requirements.
