Your new role, what's involved?
As an Associate Technical Lead, you will focus on technical and project delivery of energy storage assignments and take a leading position in developing WSP's services in this area.
Your duties will include:
1. Lead the development and delivery of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects spanning the various contract engagements and asset lifecycles (feasibility, development, owner's engineer and technical due diligence scopes of work)
2. Providing technical input to ESS developments, at each stage of the project development lifecycle, including their integration with other electrical or generating plants as necessary
3. Manage and develop the BESS team, including weekly operational calls
4. Provide technical leadership and governance of the BESS projects
5. Coach and mentor staff at all levels to develop their BESS expertise and knowledge, through monthly 1-2-1 meeting with the team under your people supervision and review of their PD (performance development goals)
6. Support the development of and maintain close working relationships with key and target clients
7. Build and maintain WSP's reputation as a leading technical consultant for BESS and promoting the company externally
8. Support proposals and bids for the BESS sector that meet the client's needs and differentiate WSP from the competition; as well as contributing to multi-disciplinary proposals for other sectors
9. Work and collaborate with other Energy sector leads to provide our clients with a full WSP offering
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
1. A degree in a relevant engineering, technical or scientific discipline
2. In-depth knowledge of ESS technology, including in particular Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), developments and key players
3. Experience in developing UK utility scale sites at any stage (experience from multiple stages would be preferred)
4. Capability to manage projects and lead a team of multi-disciplinary engineers
5. Ability to engage directly with clients for the delivery of projects and to build positive relationship to support securing future work
6. Experience working for a contractor, developer, financier / lender, or manufacturer, in addition to those with consultancy experience.
