We have an exciting career opportunity for a Scientific skills, Strategy and Development Manager to join our Early Development service line at Labcorp based in the UK. Position Summary: In this role you will be responsible for the strategy, design and development of science/technical skills and education programs to address Early Development (ED) needs. You will collaborate with leaders, functional SMEs and outside providers and perform gap analyses between our current scientific/technical knowledge and both current and future scientific/technical knowledge needs for ED. You will design and implement educational programs and strategies to create both internal and external pipelines of individuals with scientific/technical knowledge skills to meet scientific knowledge needs of ED, narrowing knowledge gaps in critical scientific areas to address gaps, enable talent pipeline development, employee engagement, and enhanced performance and retention. Partnering closely with Global Government Affairs, relevant industry associations, local, regional and national Government agencies, you will ensure Labcorp is at the forefront of science/technical skills development and training and proactively engage stakeholders to enhance and protect the Company's reputation in science/technical skills development within the life science sector. The role offers hybrid working and you will be aligned with one of our UK sites either at Huntingdon (Cambridgeshire), Eye (Suffolk) or Harrogate (North Yorkshire). Duties Include: Strategy, Design and Development of skills & education: - Serves as a lead SME in the strategy, design and development of scientific/technical skills and scientific/technical education programs to address strategic current and future business needs - Establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) for science/technical skills training and education programs, to ensure they meet performance expectations in line with business needs - Champions continuous improvement by integrating new methodologies and technologies into science/technical skills development programs e.g. Digital/ AI enabled platforms - In collaboration with the Country and/or Site Head and HR Business Partners, provides expert input on science/technical skills training to support development and execution of the Labcorp strategies - Where required, leads, and/or supports ED science/technical skills-based initiatives Managerial and Leadership duties and responsibilities: - Builds and maintains relationships with external stakeholders in the science/technical skills arena, including Government agencies, educational institutions, and industry bodies - Engages with relevant Government and Life Science Sector agencies to enable Labcorp to understand, evaluate and where possible leverage funding opportunities for science/technical skills-based training - Represents Labcorp in industry working groups, provide input for advocacy for and where appropriate, leads contributions to government and industry associations science/technical skills development initiatives, providing expert insights and recommendations - Advises senior leadership on relevant current and future Government technical skills policies and opportunities to implement in the business, to address skills gaps and prepare for future needs - Monitors science/technical skills based legislative changes and develops science/technical skills programs accordingly to maintain compliance, skills-based risk and maximise value We can offer you: - Competitive salary and benefits package including contributory pension scheme - Considerable interaction with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels - Diverse and engaging work with exposure to multiple different roles within the business across a number of sites - Opportunity to develop your network and profile in the industry - Continuous growth with our learning-based and knowledge sharing culture - Potential for global exposure - Remote/hybrid working Education: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in life sciences, Human Resources Management or relevant learning and development qualification. Experience may be substituted for education Skills/Experience: - Demonstrable experience in relevant skill-based training roles - Proven track record in relationship building and transparency across all internal and external stakeholders - In-depth knowledge of UK science/technical skills development arena, education and funding systems - Good understanding of UK data privacy laws and intellectual property rights - Demonstrated skills and aptitude for teaching and teambuilding - Proven track record in design, delivery and evaluation of development initiatives - Excellent interpersonal skills paired with strong persuasion and influencing skills - High level facilitation and coaching skills - Expert organizational and planning skills - Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills - Ability to assess impact of training and the extent to which it is transferred to the work environment - UK Government corporate affairs experience - Ability to network, build relationships and work with a variety of stakeholders including senior leaders - Innovative and change adaptive - Pro active and motivated with the ability to work autonomously and as a team Please note whilst work is generally performed remotely, in an office environment some UK travel may be required.
