Job overview
We are recruiting a specialist (B6) community-based Occupational Therapist (OT) on a permanent, full-time basis. The successful candidate will support the provision of high-quality OT service to children with a range of conditions, focusing on neuro disability, complex long-term conditions, and developmental needs in the community for the early years cohort.
Main duties of the job
* Act as an autonomous practitioner within a specialised paediatric OT service, providing assessment, treatment, review, and evaluation for children.
* Manage own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service.
* Work in partnership with other health professionals, parents, and service providers to ensure a child-centred approach to therapy.
* Organize caseload effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and time.
* Provide cover to other areas of service as necessary.
* Support senior therapists with service development and provide supervision to junior staff and students.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy, recognised by HCPC
* Member of HCPC
* Member of RCOT (Royal College of OTs)
Experience
* A varied knowledge & experience of OT rotations
* Paediatric OT experience as a junior or student OT
* Experience working in a community setting
Skills, Knowledge & Ability
* Evidence of knowledge of a range of approaches used within occupational therapy
* Evidence of basic occupational therapy assessment techniques
* Proven physical ability to carry out any therapeutic handling required
* Evidence of knowledge of current trends within occupational therapy
* Good communication skills, written and verbal
* Ability to work flexibly when necessary
* Computer skills for report writing and data collection
* Proven knowledge of Safeguarding procedures
* Evidence of interest within the field of paediatrics
* Presentation skills for a range of audiences
* Evidence of supporting students
Management & Organisation
* Proven ability to prioritise and organise caseload
* Evidence of positive working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of delegating tasks to assistant therapists
Professional
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* Evidence of self-directed learning, including reflective practice
* Understanding of Clinical Governance
* Commitment to improving the quality of occupational therapy services
* Knowledge of current issues affecting therapy provision
