Caretaker Hours per week: 27 ½ (52 weeks) Annual leave: To be agreed in advance with the headteacher and can be taken in term time or school holidays) Contract Type: Permanent Salary: Scale 4 (£13.26 to £14.13 an hour, £25,584 to £27,269 based on a 37 hour week) Start date: February 2025 We are looking to appoint a self-motivated, well organised caretaker with a ‘can do’ attitude and preferably previous experience in a similar role. You will be responsible for the security, maintenance and general appearance of the buildings and grounds, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standard. Applicants with electrical, plumbing and/or DIY / joinery skills with a knowledge of health and safety legislation will be particularly welcomed. We are looking for someone who can recognise the daily repairs we inevitably encounter, liaise with suppliers, monitor health and safety standards and undertake training where necessary. You must be able to work on your own initiative and be proactive in dealing with day to day tasks and have the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines. Job Purpose To ensure a clean, attractive, secure, safe and welcoming school site through a process of regular cleaning, health & safety checks and scheduled maintenance and monitoring of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings. Key Responsibilities The security of the premises and its contents Ensuring the effective cleaning of the premises, cleaning duties and management of contractors. Maintenance and monitoring of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings. Health & Safety, compliance with legal regulations, building codes and approved codes of practise Operation of fire and burglar alarms, lighting and heating Semi-skilled maintenance duties - basic repairs, painting and decorating, minor plumbing works, improvement, and refurbishments.
