Cardiff and Vale Podiatry Services are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and adaptable individual who is passionate about providing clinical excellence. This friendly busy department consists of approximately 60 staff and provides services across Cardiff and the Vale from multiple sites including community clinics, hospitals and patients own homes.

Main duties of the job
The post is amenable to part time or full time working. The Podiatry Service offers a comprehensive rotational scheme, for both entry level and experienced staff. The successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain a wide variety of experience working in an innovative and award-winning service.

You will need strong communication skills and the ability to work well within the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and effective services to patients. The post holder will need to have excellent diagnostic and clinical skills to deliver a range of high quality Podiatry treatments including complex interventions within your area of clinical expertise across community and acute services.
The post holder will be main point of contact with other community healthcare workers and provider agencies within a variety of care settings including community clinics, domiciliary work and care homes and contributes to the development of podiatry. The successful applicant will be responsible for leadership of the leadership of Safe at Home Portfolio, maintaining a complex clinical caseload whilst providing clinical leadership to domiciliary based podiatry services.
Job responsibilities
You will be required to travel throughout the region on a daily basis, using your clinical skills to undertake comprehensive assessments and provide acute clinical care and interventions to patients. In undertaking your role, you will be pivotal in ensuring that care plans support and enable patients to remain safe in their usual place of residence.

Essential
* Professional registration with HCPC as a Podiatrist with a BSc in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent Diploma in Podiatric Medicine and the ability to gain appropriate registered qualification for the supply and administration of prescriptions only medicines (POMS) within an agreed timescale.
* Postgraduate study to masters level within the specialism or equivalent
* Local anaesthetic certificate

* Demonstrate a high level of post graduate specialist knowledge in the following areas for both adults and paediatrics: - Musculoskeletal disorders and interventions - Orthotic/appliance intervention - Dermatological, neurological and vascular disorders, tissue viability and minor surgery.
* Significant NHS clinical podiatry post graduate experience or equivalent
* Evidence of continued professional development in specialist field and with a multidisciplinary team
* Experience of assessing and treating High risk Patients particularly Diabetics, vascular insufficiency, wound management, terminally ill, mental health problems or learning disabilities
* Experience in managing and explaining difficult prognosis
* Experience of treating patients in clinics, acute and outreach settings
* Experience in manufacture of orthotics and prescription writing
* Experience in supervision coaching and delegation
