Manpower is hiring a permanent Van Driver for our fantastic client, offering brand new facilities, kit, and a chance to be a part of a growing company making a difference!
As a van driver, you'll be on a mission to transport new cooking oil and exchange those empty containers. It's a hands-on role where you make an impact.
You'll be visiting the shops we want to work with, with a quick & friendly drop-in to hand over informative leaflets. It's a chance to make a memorable impression and foster those crucial partnerships. So, even when you're not behind the wheel, you're still making a significant impact!
What you'll need to do:
* Deliver fresh oil to the catering / restaurant trade and collect used cooking oil.
* Pre-trip inspection of the vehicle to ensure that it is in proper working order and complies with safety regulations.
* Regular maintenance of the vehicle to ensure it remains in proper working order, and report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
* Drive the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to traffic laws and complying with all safety regulations and procedures.
* Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring it is secured according to safety regulations.
* Handle payments for oil and maintain accuracy of cash/pre-paid cards.
* Communicate with dispatch and customers to provide updates on delivery times and any issues that arise during transport.
* Accurately record information following oil delivery and/or collection, e.g., completion of Waste Transfer Notes.
* Report missed or failed deliveries on a daily basis to the Microsite Manager.
* Build and maintain good relationships with customers and prospective customers, assisting with sales efforts when required.
What we'll need from you:
* A Driving Licence and a clean driving record.
* Experience of driving vans in the UK with exceptional knowledge of UK roadways, laws, and regulations (minimum 6 months).
* Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with the Transport Office, customers, and other drivers on the road.
* Professional demeanour, appearance, and conduct.
* Strong customer service orientation and a willingness to engage with customers positively.
* Experience of business-to-business sales generation and achievement of targets as part of a wider driving role is desirable (but not essential).
* Awareness of safety regulations relating to driving a vehicle and health and safety in the workplace.
* Ability to problem-solve and demonstrate examples of handling unexpected situations.
* A high level of attention to detail due to the nature of checking documents.
* Strong work ethic, reliability, and flexibility in your schedule, as the job may require working long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
