About the role:
As a Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and services essential for the manufacturing and installation of transportable buildings. This role includes managing purchasing, estimating, and sourcing activities in alignment with business needs.
Additionally, the Procurement Officer will be responsible for maintaining strong supplier and contractor relationships, managing price files, and ensuring the accurate upkeep of procurement and estimating databases.
The key responsibilities of the role are:
* Procure goods and services, ensuring compliance with project specifications and schedules.
* Resolve supply and product issues, including invoice discrepancies, credits, short supply, and product damage.
* Conduct accurate quantity take-offs to support procurement planning and cost estimation.
* Review specification documents to ensure procurement activities align with project requirements.
* Create purchase orders for goods and services based on procurement schedules and project specifications.
* Provide support to procurement staff, fostering team development, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
* Monitor procurement schedules, flagging potential issues or delays for review and timely resolution.
* Process requisitions and variations efficiently, ensuring alignment with project needs.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements, referring suggestions to management for evaluation.
* Record and document all procurement-related information, notifying stakeholders of any changes or delays.
* Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the achievement of Delivery in Full, On Time (DIFOT) performance metrics.
* Interface with various departments to resolve procurement issues and ensure timely completion of procurement objectives.
About You:
You are a highly motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Officer with at least 2 years of experience, preferably within the construction industry. You have a strong understanding of the building industry and possess advanced negotiation skills, ensuring effective procurement and supplier management. With excellent numeracy and communication abilities, you thrive in fast-paced environments and are adept at working autonomously. Your attention to detail and high level of accuracy enable you to manage procurement activities efficiently while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and contractors.
To be successful in this role you will also demonstrate:
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role preferably within the construction industry
* Sound understanding of the building industry
* Advanced negotiation skills
* Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
* Ability to work autonomously
* Experience with Microsoft Navision (ERP)- Not essential
* Trade background- Desirable
* Organized, reliable and highly motivated
* Excellent numeracy and communication (written and verbal)
