Your role and responsibilities You will support the management of the highway network by: monitoring, collecting and processing traffic data, which includes volume, speed and types of vehicles using equipment at our extensive number of fixed sites, also radar and pneumatic (tubes) traffic monitoring equipment, while adhering to safe systems of work on site working with colleagues, other organisations and communities. You will need to be educated to level 2 or have equivalent knowledge and experience. NVQ2 in civil engineering or other related discipline (desirable) experience of working outside or on the highway to show attention to detail and accuracy ability to plan and organise your own short-term workload and to work flexibly as part of the team good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook etc. You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (docx). The team The Traffic Survey team takes pride in providing an excellent customer service. They monitor, collect, process and supply traffic data, in a timely and professional manner, to help inform: the strategic network policy highway maintenance (in relation to traffic management requirements) highway improvement (for example, speed limit / junction improvement) enforcement measures (for example Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs')) heavy goods vehicle (HGV) routes planning applications.
