We are delighted to offer a suitably qualified registered nurse the opportunity to work in an exciting, modern and forward-thinking organisation.
This post is for the Day Surgery Unit at Furness General Hospital, which provides orthopaedic, general surgery, urology, max facial, ENT and services, to patients from across the bay. You will also work on the Urology Procedure Unit which provides urology procedures, clinics other speciality Clinics and dressing clinics. You will be part of a multidisciplinary nurse-led team. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join our team within the Day Surgery Unit.
The department is committed to appraisal, to support continuous education and professional development. You will be required to provide flexible cover as required.
Main duties of the job
1. Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve desired outcomes that promote the well-being of patients.
2. Act as mentor/assessor in supporting and developing junior staff e.g. student nurses, return to practice nurses registered and unregistered staff through mentorship/preceptorship and induction.
3. Act as an effective role model for all ward staff.
4. Identify problems which affect planning and delivery of patient care and actively work towards solving them empowering others to make decisions.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals -Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

Experience
* Registered Nurse (on the relevant part of the register for the post)
* Willingness to undertake further training relevant to the post – and to use and maintain these skills in the delivery of care
* Willingness to undertake, teaching, mentoring and/or assessing qualifications
* Post registration clinical course appropriate to area.
