Mechanical Fitter - Aggregate Industries (Chryston Site, Glasgow) Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter? Do you consider yourself reliable and an asset to a busy team? This site is responsible for manufacturing concrete products for both domestic and commercial customers. This position is ideal for a time-served fitter with experience in a heavy industrial environment. Role Details: Position: Mechanical Fitter Location: Aggregate Industries, Auchengeich Rd, Moodiesburn, Glasgow G69 0JL Rate: £17-20 per hour (dependent on experience) Bonus: Fixed element bonus included Overtime: 1.5x pay for any hours over 45 per week Contract Length: 3 months initially (potential for extension or permanent offer) Shift Patterns: Monday - Friday, 06:30 - 16:00 (45 hours per week) Start Date: ASAP Responsibilities: Carry out planned maintenance and repairs on site equipment. Contribute to the preparation and development of Safe Systems of Work for repair procedures. Respond to unplanned repairs and breakdowns. Ensure temporary fixes are followed up with permanent solutions. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping. Support and train operatives to complete minor maintenance tasks. Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with regulations. Operate the site Computerised Maintenance Management System. Monitor and document all plant stoppages and breakdowns. Complete and adhere to all safety-related documentation for maintenance activities. Essential Requirements: Full UK Driving License and access to own vehicle. Minimum 2 years experience in a heavy industrial environment. Proven experience as a mechanical/maintenance fitter. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, concrete mixers, and silos. Mechanical-biased qualification (Time-served apprenticeship, Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ). Fabrication and welding experience (minimum 2 years). Strong verbal and written communication skills. A strong work ethic and ability to support the team. Experience in planning and implementing maintenance schedules. Good understanding of engineering drawings.
