Overview: We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Project Manager for a contract role within a leading food manufacturing facility. In this role, you will ensure that the infrastructure project is executed in strict compliance with CDM (2015) and food manufacturing safety regulations, including HACCP and GMP. You will work closely with contractors, operatives, and stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of health and safety throughout the project. Key Responsibilities: Manage the comprehensive planning and execution of the project, ensuring minimal disruption to production and adherence to all safety and regulatory standards. Develop, implement, and monitor safe systems of work, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes specific to the project. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews to proactively identify and mitigate hazards. Organise and lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions to reinforce a strong safety culture across the site. Schedule and coordinate the daily activities on site, ensuring that all tasks are executed safely and to the required specifications. Maintain clear communication with contract managers, operatives, and clients regarding safety performance, emerging risks, and any necessary corrective actions. Administer the arrangements within the Construction Phase Plan and promote best practice in operational and safety procedures. Prepare and update all project-related documentation, including Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and daily site reports. Keep detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective measures for audit purposes. Liaise with clients to provide early warnings of any safety or commercial impacts during the project. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in health & safety project management within a food manufacturing or process engineering environment. Demonstrated expertise in implementing and monitoring safe systems in production settings, with specific experience in overseeing infrastructure upgrade projects. In-depth knowledge of CDM (2015), HACCP, GMP, and other relevant health and safety legislation. NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent safety qualification) is essential. Current First Aid at Work certification is required. Additional certifications such as SMSTS or HACCP are advantageous. Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
