Role Purpose To independently manage and undertake a diverse and complex ER case load, while also supervising ER advisors undertaking routine cases. To provide strategic ER support to employees and managers across the company. Working with the wider HR team, particularly the HR Business Partners & Directors, and the business to provide advice, guidance and support and be a subject matter expert on the full employee lifecycle, ensuring a high-quality service to employees and managers. Key Responsibilities Leads and/or supports business leaders in key organisational change management initiatives (M&A’s, organisational culture change, business process re-engineering, reorganisations). Builds strong partnerships with senior business leaders and acts as a confidante, coach and constructive challenger to stakeholders. Supports the senior managers and HR leadership in change of organisation design and resource management as needed. Train senior managers to chair case hearings in compliance with our policies and values. Independently manage a diverse & complex ER case load, including but not limited to; disciplinaries, capability & performance, flexible working requests, redundancy, speak up, settlement agreements, grievances, sickness absence, supporting and leading investigations as well as supporting M&A, TUPE and restructure programmes. Develop the capability of managers to independently handle a range of ER problems, developing management styles to foster positive working relationships with employees through coaching and training. Collaborate with legal department, CoEs and HRBPs and provide general consultation on employee relations and employment law topics, building strong relationships with HRBPs and key stakeholders. Solves key employee issues which might pose a significant risk to the business and organisation in own business area. Formulate and maintain effective and legally compliant HR / ER policies. Design and deliver ER training to managers and employees. Track cases and provide key insights and reporting to inform training and policy development. Influence and make sound decisions at a strategic level, balancing both risk and commercial factors. Qualifications Skills Extensive Employee Relations experience in large, complex, matrix organisations. Experience managing a team of ER advisors. A track record of strong cross-functional collaboration and partnership, managing multiple complex caseloads. Experience in ER policy development. Solid knowledge of current relevant employment legislation, case law & guidance. Confidence and ability to conduct difficult and sensitive conversations with senior managers and employees, both face-to-face and over distance, showing compassion and empathy. Experience of mediation and conflict resolution. Great communication, influencing and coaching skills up to executive level. CIPD level 5 (ideally 7) or equivalent experience What we offer This is a permanent role.
