The Role
The successful candidate will work in Briggs’ Mooring Operations team. Their duties will primarily include (but not be limited to) the berthing and unberthing of vessels, at various locations in and around the Port of Sheerness.
They will be expected to demonstrate Briggs’ core values in all interactions with customers and colleagues, ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards.
Principal Responsibilities
* Moor and Unmoor vessels in accordance with safe working practices, and under the direction of vessel pilots or crew members
* To carry out Pilot Transfer Service (PTS) using dedicated Pilot Vessel
* Operating a hand-held VHF radio, for communicating with colleagues or vessels
* Driving a company vehicle, for the purpose of transporting yourself and other work colleagues to work site
* Operate and monitor the use of shoreside winches and hooks.
* Be a member of the line handler and PTS crew during operations, following safe systems of work and procedures
* Operation of vessels both in and around the Port of Sheerness and River Medway
* Undertake training as required to comply with Company regulations and legislative requirements
* To conduct Toolbox talks to all crew members prior to any vessel operations and Directors Toolbox talks
* To supervise all mooring operations within the port
The Candidate
You will have supervisory experience within the maritime industry (essential). You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels and be flexible with shift-work. The successful individual must also be Powerboat Level 2 certified and possess ENG1 Seafarers Medical, a full UK driving license is also essential
