About the English Department
The English department at Trinity School is an enthusiastic, supportive team, who enjoy coming to work. We love Literature: reading it, talking about it, writing it - and we seek to impart this love to our students.
There are currently six classes in each year group at Key Stages 3 and 4; we prepare students to take AQA GCSE Literature and Language for years 10 and 11, and at key stage three we are crafting a broad, balanced, and interesting curriculum for building those key skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. In recent years, we have worked hard to create shared schemes of learning that get the best out of our students, and enable each of us to contribute to the progress of our learners, and of the department over time. We blend our Literature and Language curriculum, using homework to good effect, and keeping lessons engaging. We also have an A-Level English Literature and an A-Level Film Studies course, both of which are popular amongst students. At key stage 5, learners have nine hours of contact time per fortnight, spent with two class teachers. Some interesting filmic and Literary texts are covered, and students are motivated and engaging.
About You
You will be committed to the development and progress of students, able to facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential. You will be the sort of person who enjoys a collaborative team working style, relishes a challenge and is resilient. We are open to applications from experienced teachers and ECTs. It is an advantage to be able to teach to A level and Film Studies.
