As the Personal Tax Associate, you will be responsible for reviewing and submitting personal tax calculations for our private clients, including high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and directors. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, advising on tax planning opportunities, and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations. This role is ideal for someone with strong foundation within tax and a passion for delivering exceptional client service. Working closely with the Senior Accountants and Managing Partner, this role is ideal for someone who is keen to have tax as the main focus of their role or is within a Semi- Senior Accounts role and is keen to begin specialising within tax. Key Responsibilities: Preparation and Review: Prepare and review self-assessment tax returns for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations. Advisory: Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services, identifying opportunities for tax efficiencies. Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor for their personal tax affairs. Compliance: Ensure all compliance deadlines are met, including tax returns, payments, and other HMRC requirements, such as CGT reporting and calculations. Technical Expertise: Stay updated on tax legislation changes and communicate relevant updates to clients and colleagues. Liaison: Act as a point of contact with HMRC, handling enquiries and resolving any issues efficiently. Digital Accounting: The practice is in the process of transitioning all clients from paper to digital accounting, having good working knowledge of Xero and Sage is essential, as well as a willingness to advocate the benefits of Making Tax Digital. Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance and planning. Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH, TaxCalc) and Microsoft Office Suite. Personal Attributes: High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
