The role
The University of Bristol is seeking a dynamic and experienced part-time Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Division, providing expert financial support to the Faculty of Science and Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a world-class institution, while benefiting from flexible working arrangements.
You will partner Heads of Schools, School Managers and colleagues across the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The Faculty has a mission to foster a new generation of scientists and engineers and supports the research-intensive vision of the University across areas such as energy, the environment, AI, and health and living. Providing financial advice and shaping decisions you will have a significant part to play in the budget setting process, contributing to the Faculty strategy and optimising financial performance.
This is a part-time role, with a minimum of 3 days per week, with some flexibility in the work schedule. The University offers an excellent blended working policy, allowing you to work remotely for part of the working week. However, you will need to work from the office at least once a week, usually on Thursdays.
What will you be doing?
* Partnering with key stakeholders to provide financial insights, advice and guidance.
* You will be responsible for your area’s Management Accounts and delivering insightful analysis.
* Supporting the development of financial budgets, plans and strategies supporting the implementation of the School/Faculty goals.
* You will interpret and share financial performance covering both revenue and capital expenditure.
* Build up excellent working relationships with your stakeholders and Finance colleagues to identify continuous improvement opportunities and improve financial performance.
You should apply if
* You understand the principles of business partnering and can demonstrate commercial acumen.
* Proven analytical skills you can make decisions based on complex data and present financial information confidently.
* With excellent communication skills you can negotiate with a range of stakeholders to direct outcomes as well as leading and motivating others.
* You have experience of reviewing business cases and able to develop them to support investment proposals.
* A qualified Accountant/educated to degree level or you have equivalent relevant finance experience.
