Main duties of the job
In this role your responsibilities will include: -
* Developing the design policies and for ensuring that those policies are followed when the databases are developedImplementing of all aspects of the design of the Authoritys major Oracle databases, including logical, physical and security models.
* Working with other Solutions Delivery colleagues to help customers to articulate their requirements for business systems, including explaining to customers and others the complexity of database design and performance
* Assisting in the staff development of the Database Technologies team through regular mentoring of colleagues.
* Working with the Lead Data Engineer to ensure that this best practice is implemented across their team.
* Deputising for the Lead Data Engineer in their absence, standing in for them as required in operational matters and at meetings.

You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.

Essential
* Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related subject
* Qualifications or courses attended in Oracle Database Administration
* Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
Experience

* Significant experience in an Oracle DBA environment, including database design, physical layout, security, performance monitoring and improvement
* Experience of database query/procedural language skills e.g. Oracle PL/SQL and SQL Experience of producing user and technical documentation
