Demand Planning and Supply Chain Manager - Purchasing Manager - Medical Devices - Healthcare - up to £50k - Leading Benefits package - Healthcare Innovation - Tredegar
Yolk Recruitment is partnering with a leading Medical Device organization at the forefront of medical care innovation. The company is experiencing consistent growth and seeks a Purchasing Manager with experience in Demand Planning and Supply Chain Management to support their expansion. This role is primarily on-site, with potential supplier visits to locations such as Barcelona, Turkey, and Singapore.
The Role
Responsible for demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and ensuring an efficient supply chain to meet business goals. Managing all purchasing activities, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and quality standards are key responsibilities. The role requires strong analytical, interpersonal, IT, and strategic skills, involving collaboration across sales & marketing, finance, production, and stores departments.
Main Responsibilities
Demand Planning
* Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts based on historical and commercial data to inform raw material purchasing and production planning.
* Collaborate with sales, marketing, and finance teams to incorporate business insights into forecasting models.
* Create and monitor KPIs to optimize raw material procurement, production activities, and labor requirements.
* Monitor demand variations and adjust forecasts to maintain optimal inventory levels.
* Identify risks and opportunities in demand planning and develop mitigation strategies.
Supply Chain Management
* Oversee inventory planning, ensuring stock availability while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
* Coordinate with production teams to align activities with demand forecasts.
* Optimize supply chain processes to reduce costs, lead times, and risks, while maintaining quality standards.
* Build and sustain strong supplier relationships for long-term partnerships.
* Manage domestic and international supply chains, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
* Develop strategies to address potential supply disruptions.
* Conduct supplier audits with the Quality department, ensuring compliance with sustainability and ethical sourcing standards, including the Modern Slavery Act.
* Monitor procurement KPIs and prepare reports on cost savings, supplier performance, and stock levels.
Additional Responsibilities
* Collaborate with R&D on medical device-related supplies.
* Lead, train, and develop the Purchasing team to foster continuous improvement.
* Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Maintain high IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office, ERP systems (SAP, Syspro), and analytical tools (Excel, Power BI).
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
* Uphold high professional standards.
* Manage contracts and negotiations effectively.
* Manage people and their development.
* Understand global supply chain processes and risk mitigation strategies.
* Manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
* Experience in the medical device industry, with knowledge of ISO 13485:2016 and related standards.
* Experience with sustainable sourcing and supplier audits.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in similar roles, preferably in SMEs or medical device manufacturing.
* Proficiency in demand forecasting tools, ERP systems, and data analytics platforms (e.g., Syspro, SAP, Oracle, Excel, Power BI).
* CIPS qualifications at an advanced or professional level.
* Knowledge of supply chain best practices, procurement, logistics, and international sourcing.
* Experience in the medical device sector with familiarity with ISO 13485:2016 and quality standards.
