An exciting opportunity as arisen on the male service line at the Harbour, with two health and wellbeing positions now being open for recruitment into.
These positions would be ideal for staff who are highly motivated and who have an ability to work both within a multidisciplinary team as well as with a degree of autonomy. The right candidate will have an interest in working with male service users with acute mental illness, with a willingness to explore different ways to engage this service user group.
Applications are especially welcome from those who have an interest in physical exercise, either as a personal interest or past experience working as a gym instructor, football coach, etc.
These positions are also well suited to those with interests in arts and crafts as well as other activities that may help to provide activity and purpose to a services daily routine in hospital.
Being able to think outside of the box in facilitating activities in an often challenging unit is an essential quality, and you should bring the motivation, role modelling and experience to run with this role.
The Harbour has some exciting projects currently that align with the health and wellbeing role, including female only gym sessions, a weekly running group, an activity quality improvement project on one of the male wards, gardening groups, sports sessions hosted by representatives of Blackpool Football Club and plans currently under way to launch the successful Recovery Riders project that is underway elsewhere in the Trust.
If you feel you have the skills and motivation that these roles require, and you want to enhance patient care and experience, then please do apply. You can also reach out to Michelle Englishby (adult OT manager) for a discussion around the role, responsibilities and work plan.
