Job summary
The School of Nursing and Midwifery is looking to appoint an experienced academic and/or health care practitioner to contribute to our new and exciting multidisciplinary PGCert Enhanced Clinical Practitioner Programme. This expertise may include knowledge, skills and expertise in clinical assessment, physiology/pathophysiology, clinical decision making and reasoning and leadership/change management at level 7.
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will be expected to teach a range of core subjects and should have a flexible approach to the subject material they teach.
2. The post holder will be committed to promoting academic enquiry, helping develop critical thinking in students by supporting safe, effective and evidence-based practice.
3. By providing expert knowledge, they will act as course lead and coordinate agreed modules, assess students and supervise projects.
4. The post holder should be able to design teaching sessions that maximise the integration of theory to practice and inspire learners.
5. Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality assurance processes for occupational apprenticeships.
Job responsibilities
1. Contribute through module and/or course leadership the academic, clinical skills and simulation teaching within the School.
2. Contribute to the assessment process for students including setting, marking, and moderation of work.
3. Design and develop innovative, inclusive, and inspiring learning materials and assessments including e-learning.
4. Act as a Personal Academic Tutor, including Individual Learner Progress Reviews (ILPR's).
5. Ensure all teaching, learning, and assessment activity meets university quality assurance processes and external quality standards.
6. Support for external quality inspections (OFSTED, NMC, EFSA).
7. Engage as an Academic Assessor to confirm student achievement of NMC proficiencies and programme outcomes.
8. Participate in relevant committees within the School and College.
9. Participate in the recruitment of students, including selection events and open days.
10. Ensure teaching is informed by contemporary research and develops students' abilities to engage in debate and critical thinking.
11. Undertake research, scholarship, and knowledge transfer through engaging in professional practice.
12. Participate fully in the life of the School and carry out any other reasonable duties as requested.
13. Participate in annual staff development and review processes.
14. Maintain personal and professional development to meet changing job demands.
15. Enhance personal health, safety, and well-being of staff and students.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Skills
1. Demonstrable capacity to contribute to the Learning & Teaching agenda within enhanced and advanced practice curricula.
2. High level of ICT proficiency for teaching and administration.
3. Awareness of national strategic and policy developments in health and social care.
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
5. Evidence of effective team-working and interpersonal skills.
6. Clear evidence of sustained continuous professional development.
Qualifications
1. A master's degree in advanced practice or equivalent master's level qualification.
2. Current registration with a Professional Body (NMC, HCPC, GPhC).
Desirable
1. Post Graduate Certificate Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCTHE).
2. Relevant master's qualification or working towards.
3. PhD or other Doctoral Qualification.
Experience
1. Experience working at Enhanced / Advanced Clinical Practitioner or Consultant level of practice.
2. Relevant professional educational/practice experience.
