Job Specification Position: Financial Controller Reporting to: Managing Director Status of post: Full-time permanent Job Purpose: Responsible for all aspects of Finance for the company ensure that financial records are accurately updated and maintained in a timely manner, producing reports to allow business decisions and working with the Directors and the Board to produce forecasts and budget plans for future business development. Main duties and responsibilities: Financial Processes Ensure that financial processes and controls in Solmatix are effective and fit for purpose Develop and refine financial processes and controls to drive greater transparency and efficiency Refine processes to allow accurate forecasting of cash inflows and outflows for Treasury management Work with the Operations Director to ensure that stock and WIP schedules are timely and accurate Ensure consolidated management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time Debt and creditor control and management Strict Cash disciplines Staff Management Line manager of two Assistant Accountants Actively support staff to perform daily activities to a high level Support staff development and encourage process improvement Systems Development Review the existing accounting system (Sage 50) with a view to migrate if required Develop, co-ordinate and manage system upgrade if required Actively seek opportunities to improve systems / processes to develop accuracy and timeliness of financial data Monthly Reporting Produce timely, accurate financial reports and analysis for the Managing Director, Operations Director and the Board Investigation and report on deviations to budget and prior year Develop trend analysis to facilitate ongoing forecasting and budgeting Present monthly management accounts and recommendations to the Board Forecasting and Budgeting Work with the sales and operations teams to produce the annual budget for Solmatix and interim forecasts Challenge underlying assumptions and be a robust Finance voice in evaluating future business opportunities Produce budget information packs for the Managing Director, Operations Director and the Board Other Duties Lead point of contact for annual statutory audit Contact person for tax advisors, responsible for ensuring tax and VAT compliance including working with Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) and Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) and prompt reclaim of any rebates due Assist the growing business with decision support as well as Solmatix Ireland Ltd entity planning and management Ad hoc tasks as required by the Managing Director, Operations Director and the Board Essential Criteria Holder of a professional accountancy qualification, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent with a minimum of three years post-qualified experience Good IT systems knowledge and experience especially in Accounting Systems and Office. Experience of Sage 50 Excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate financial information effectively A confident self-starter, someone who is highly motivated and capable of managing their own workload Attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and timely financial information and to organise workload to achieve set objectives where there are conflicting demands and priorities Proactive in identifying improvement opportunities and taking actions to deliver them Experience of working as part of a cross-functional team, staff management experience desirable
