The county council's Business Intelligence team plays a central role in supporting all our council services, providing analyses to develop our understanding of the people who live in Lancashire and insight into Lancashire's social, economic and cultural landscape. We develop business critical reports and performance analyses, and support statutory and regulatory requirements. The team has experts in a broad range of business intelligence techniques, tools and technologies, as well as having a deep understanding of the council's functions and services. This role presents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team at the heart of the council. Business Intelligence Analyst The post holder will lead on producing analytical and intelligence reports on the social, economic and environmental situation in Lancashire. This will inform understanding and drive strategic decision making in the county council and in organisations across Lancashire. Key responsibilities Lead on the collation, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of social, economic and environmental intelligence to support the county council, its partners, the public and those interested in Lancashire. Analyse and report on relevant national and local datasets and information, providing added value in the form of strategic and operational intelligence and insight. Produce and publish research reports on the Lancashire Insight website and in other formats to appropriate deadlines. Maintain and update reports and datasets as needed and contribute to the development and functionality of the Lancashire Insight website. Ensure the provision of high-quality and often complex information from a broad range of multidisciplinary sources for use by stakeholders to inform commissioning, service planning and policy decisions. Provide specialist advice and expertise on the availability, use and statistical limitations of data as required. Produce ad hoc analyses, reports and responses to meet information requests. Key requirements Experience of producing and presenting data analysis and findings mainly as written reports, but also through spreadsheets, presentations and data visualisations. Experience of producing and presenting data analysis and findings that are relevant for different users’ needs and levels of technical understanding. Experience of linking research to the policy and strategic direction of an organisation. Highly competent analyst with the ability to write clear and concise reports with logical recommendations, and to present, in writing and verbally, complex information to a range of different audiences. Highly numerate, with strong analytical skills and problem-solving capability. Skills to communicate complex matters in difficult situations, requiring persuasion and influence. Understand, interpret and present complex information quickly and accurately to inform strategic decision-making.
