An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Clinical Fellow within the Intestinal Failure (IF) Department.
This is a full-time appointment in Intestinal Failure (IF) for a 12-month period at Salford Care Organisation, Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust.
The candidate will spend 12 months at the Intestinal Failure Unit at Salford Care Organisation, providing medical care for patients with complex type 2 and type 3 IF.
You will integrate within an expert multidisciplinary team of IF physicians, IF surgeons, dietitians, nurse specialists, ACPs, psychologists, and pharmacists to provide a complete Intestinal Failure service.
The main clinical focus of the post will be to assist the Consultants and the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of Intestinal Failure care.
The post would be suitable for a Gastroenterology trainee at ST 4, 5, or ST6 level. Applications will also be considered for those at other stages of training; for example, the role can be adapted for a post-CCT applicant aiming for a Consultant role with a specialist interest in intestinal failure/clinical nutrition.
As well as clinical nutrition, the post is also suitable for candidates who wish to develop clinical experience in the management of people with complex inflammatory bowel disease or those with an interest in Neuro Gastroenterology.
The candidate will work closely with the Intestinal Failure Unit (IFU) under the direction of Professor Simon Lal, Consultant Gastroenterologist, alongside two Associate Specialists providing service for intestinal failure patients in conjunction with a unique multidisciplinary team.
The post is designed to support the care of patients with intestinal failure, consistent with the advanced nutrition training curriculum of the JRCPTB/SAC.
The successful candidate would gain experience in complex nutritional and metabolic care, techniques for the management of intestinal failure in one of the world’s leading specialist centres.
