Team Secretary band 3, 37.5 hours per week, West Cumberland Hospital
A Team Secretary role within the Emergency Care Collaborative, working in Acute Medicine. The Acute Medicine services cover Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU/Ward 6) at WCH.
The role's primary responsibility is to provide administrative support to the Consultant and operational teams within Acute Medicine, working on discharge summary follow-up, investigation/test result processing, meeting minutes and agendas, and general queries relating to patients under the care of the service.
We are looking ideally for an experienced Team Secretary with medical terminology knowledge, as well as knowledge of NCIC admin systems and processes, including Text flow, but would welcome applications from colleagues in administrative roles at any grade who wish to explore a new and exciting area of medicine.
Main duties of the job
The team consists of the Medical Secretary working alongside Consultants, Nurse Practitioners, etc., to achieve service objectives including discharge summary monitoring, test/result processing, minute taking, and general office admin duties including phones and emails. You will be based at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, but occasionally may have to work cross-site at Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. Training will be provided across the two sites until the candidate reaches competency.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE English language (minimum C grade) or equivalent.
* RSA 2 word processing or equivalent.
* RSA 3 word processing or equivalent.
* NVQ 3 in administration or equivalent.
Experience
* Operating word processing and computer packages.
* Audio typing / word processing.
* Medical audio typing / word processing.
Knowledge
* Requirements of the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act, Access to Health Records and Defensible Documentation, Health and Safety and their application in the workplace.
