This position is for Nursing Students with County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust who are looking to join our Healthcare Assistant Bank Band 3.

Main duties of the job
1. To assist in admitting patients to the ward, completing demographic details and recording base-line observations.
2. To provide care to patients following instructions in the care plan, programme or pathway.
3. To demonstrate competence in the accurate recording of routine clinical observations.
4. To recognise abnormal recordings or signs of change in a patient's condition and report changes to a registered nurse.
5. To assist patients meet their personal care needs (includes hygiene, mobility, nutrition, elimination and comfort).
6. To assist patients to eat and drink in a sensitive and supportive manner.
7. To accurately record information on patient food charts and fluid balance charts, reporting concerns to a registered nurse.
8. To assist the clinical team with data entry, filing and maintaining accurate documentation of care.
9. To assist in escorting, transferring and discharging patients, ensuring all property is packed and the bed area is prepared for the next patient.
10. To ensure treatment rooms and ward areas are adequately stocked and tidy.
11. To assist in resolving conflict by responding to concerns and complaints in a positive manner.

Job responsibilities
The postholder will support the team in providing care to patients acting under the direction of a registered nurse.
Able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and other staff.
Good standard of general education.

Qualifications
* Good standard of general education.
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
Experience
* Previous experience in the care environment.
