Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineering Paint Team are responsible for all new vehicle introductions, model year changes, new colours and integration of new technologies to deliver exterior vehicle finish. The role requires involvement from early product development through to a handover of a volume manufacturing ready process. This role will focus on model integration and involves working within a small team. The successful candidate will work as part of this team with a range of stakeholders to ensure the successful development and introduction of new models and technologies. The team are tasked with delivering manufacturing processes with ever improving efficiency, effective costs and reduced environmental impact. The Launch phase involves planning the execution of the programme requirements for prototype builds and eventual increase in volume to intended line rates.
The role requires being onsite at the customer's location 5 days a week.
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Application of Lean Manufacturing and Design concepts.
2. Assess advanced design themes / models to ensure compliance and compatibility with Paint Shop processes.
3. Produce and Review Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) documents to ensure risks are mitigated
4. Manage technical issues and escalate where appropriate.
5. Support virtual and physical build events, raising and managing issues where appropriate.
6. Develop processes as basis for plant work instructions and standardised work sheets.
7. Optimise equipment usage to achieve project Capital & Operational Investment targets
8. Direct interaction with Paint GME Forward Planning & GME Off-Cycle teams
9. Develop Process solutions to meet operational targets
10. Develop cost effective solutions for all Engineering changes against CAPEX & OPEX targets.
11. Delivery of ergonomic processes for manual operations
KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE
Essential:
12. Understanding of Paint Manufacturing/Engineering processes, tools & techniques
13. Demonstrable ability to create detailed and effective action plans
14. Knowledge of MS Office tools
Desirable:
15. Automotive Paint Shop Experience
16. Knowledge or experience of wax, paint and sealer applications and programming
17. Degree or other technical qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field
18. Experience of automotive model design & development
19. Evidence of an innovative approach to technical problem solving and process development • The ability to work with financial information to inform choice
20. Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex technical solutions
21. Knowledge of Agile, JIRA or Scrum methodology
22. Project management experience
23. Process Authoring experience
24. Knowledge of Dassault software (CATIA, DELMIA, 3DX Platform)
