About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral research fellow to lead on the genetics of preterm birth alongside collaborators in the Tommy's National Centre for Preterm Birth Research. The role will seek novel genetic associations, assess the transferability of established loci, and characterise the genetic architecture of preterm birth in a British and Bangladeshi population. Findings will be validated in other multi-ancestry pre-term birth cohorts. Additional work will harness genomic tools to predict progression to type 2 diabetes after gestational diabetes. The candidate will be expected to undertake supervision of postgraduate levels and carry out other forms of public presentation. Appointment details: The post is available from May and is funded 1 FTE for a year in the first instance. About you
We are looking for an individual who has a background in statistical genetics or bioinformatics. Applicants should hold a PhD in this field. You would have experience in analysing and interpreting large genetic datasets and advanced skills in at least one statistical software package R, are essential. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as well as the ability to work independently. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B spine point with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.
