Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, innovative, flexible and well motivated Occupational Therapist to join the North CornwallTherapy team, based primarily within the Community Rehabilitation Team at Carew House, Bodmin.
We deliver Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy in the North Cornwall locality to in a variety of ways:
1. Community Rehabilitation Team - working within the patients' home environment, treating patients with a complex and varied pathologies and presentations, including a wide variety of conditions, long-term, neurological, orthopaedic, respiratory, falls, and contact, treatment plan, and working environment are different bringing variety and challenge to each working day.
2. Bodmin & Stratton Community Hospitals - At Bodmin there is the 24 bedded CATU - (Clinical Assessment & Treatment Unit). At Stratton Hospital there are 18 bed Rehabilitation beds.
The Therapy team is part of the wider Adult Community Services, within Cornwall Foundation Trust, which encompasses a number of Specialist teams as well as the Community Nursing teams and Homefirst Team.
The service currently operates Monday to Friday, but seven-day working may be a requirement of this post in the future. It may also be that on occasions and as a requirement of this post that the post holder works flexibly over the North Cornwall Therapy team.
Main duties of the job
3. To manage a defined caseload of patients with complex needs within the Community setting using evidence-based practice, Occupational Therapy process and patient-centred principles
4. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions as an autonomous practitioner using independence of judgement.
5. To have an active role with the triage of new referral coming into the team.
6. To take a lead role with Occupational Therapy students within the team.
7. To take a supporting role with the Rotational Band 5 Occupational Therapists working within the team as well as with the more junior staff within the wider Community Rehabilitation team
8. To participate in the planning and development of Community and Occupational Therapy services, deputising for the Team Lead, as appropriate.
