The Opportunity
Place Services, a multidisciplinary consultancy within ECC, provides environmental and planning services to support sustainable development. We are seeking an Ecological Consultant to advise on ecological matters related to development management, including assessments, surveys, and policy advice, primarily supporting local planning authorities across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver ecological and countryside management services, including assessments and surveys.
2. Provide technical ecological advice on development projects and policies.
3. Contribute to plan, policy, and guidance development.
4. Engage with networks and contribute to promotional activities.
5. Manage low-value projects and contracts within budgets.
6. Maintain professional client relationships and seek continuous improvement.
7. Enhance personal skills and knowledge through ongoing development.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (RQF Level 6) with post-qualification experience.
2. Membership or progression towards membership of CIEEM.
3. Proficiency in ecological assessments, legislation, and habitat/species surveys.
4. Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
5. Good communication and negotiation skills.
6. Proficiency in GIS and other IT tools.
7. Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
Additional Information
This role involves mobility across operational areas; hence, a driving license or alternative mobility means is required.
