What’s the position?
This Engineering Manager (Sportsbook) position is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of developers to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software features in alignment with product specifications. Through strategic leadership and collaboration, you will drive innovation, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.
You will be responsible for managing the full development lifecycle, including planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on excellence. Furthermore, you will play a critical role in fostering team culture, mentoring and coaching team members, and identifying skill gaps to ensure proper training and development.
The scope of this role includes the HR management of the team, such as conducting performance evaluations, career development sessions, and workforce planning in order to support the growth of a highly motivated and high-performing team
Daily Duties:
* Close collaboration with the Sportsbook trading team to gather requirements and ensure engineering solutions align with trading operations.
* Sports Feeds Integration & Data Processing: Integrate real-time sports data feeds (live scores, odds, player stats) from third-party providers, ensuring accuracy and low latency.
* Build Sports Trading tools based on the Trading teams requirements.
* Will check in with team members, addressing impediments, and ensuring they have the resources and clarity needed to proceed with their work. This includes regular 1:1s, team stand-ups, and impromptu problem-solving sessions.
* Monitoring sprint progress, adjusting priorities based on emerging needs, and ensuring work is properly scoped and estimates. This involves regular communication with product managers and stakeholders about timelines, feature updates/changes, and technical constraints.
* Work closely with Product Managers to break down high-level requirements into clear, actionable features and user stories. This can include backlog grooming sessions to clarify, prioritize, and estimate the effort of stories.
* Analyzing team velocity identifying bottlenecks, and refining development processes to improve efficiency. This can include sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
* Participate in meetings with other engineering teams, product managers, DLs, and business stakeholders to align on cross-team objectives, discuss dependencies, and risks.
* Provide real-time feedback, identifying learning opportunities, conducting career development discussions, and ensuring team members are growing in their roles.
* Participate in architecture discussions (when needed) and ensure technical guidance is followed to ensure solutions align with best practices and organizational standards.
* Assessing team workload, identifying staffing needs, participating in hiring processes, and managing team composition to meet delivery commitments.

* Strong experience in Sportsbook Trading development
