The Role
The Senior Marketing & Communications Officer will report to the Head of Content / Strategy. This position will play a key role in delivering effective marketing initiatives across the business, supporting the development of communication plans while also ensuring the creation and execution of high-quality content and campaigns. You will work across multiple marketing channels to drive engagement, reach new audiences, and support business growth, with a full-funnel approach.
For this role, we are looking for a candidate with experience working with a variety of marketing and data platforms. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of how to measure marketing performance and the metrics used to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency, translating data and insight into actionable marketing plans that drive impact at every stage of the customer journey.
Person Specification
We are looking for a committed, organised and forward-thinking senior marketing officer who can balance high-quality content creation and strategic thinking. The role requires a blend of analytical thinking, content skills and marketing expertise to ensure we’re targeting our customer across brands in the most effective and efficient way with measurable impact. A keen interest in the world of whisky, wine and rum, with a strong demonstrated desire to learn more about the industry is key.
You will have a proven track record in both content marketing and performance-focused marketing planning and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines is key to this role, as is a passion for creating engaging customer experiences. Fully integrated marketing experience is essential.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Head of Content todevelop integrated marketing plans that align with business goals. Support the creation and execution of marketing campaigns across various channels, including SEO, email, paid advertising, social media, and more.
* Direct and support day-to-day Marketing and Communications activities, ensuring they effectively promote our auctions while meeting standards for quality, efficiency, and impact. Work closely with the Auction Curator to develop and execute tailored marketing plans for each auction.
* Research, plan, write, and edit engaging content for all marketing channels, including email, articles, social media, paid media, PR, website copy, and print publications. Ensure consistency in brand voice and tone while aligning with marketing campaigns.
* Work with internal teams, including the Creative and Client Experience teams, and external agencies to ensure marketing efforts are delivered on time and within budget. Provide guidance to junior Marketing & Communications team members, delegating tasks and ensuring quality standards are met.
* Leverage data and insights to build customer-centric content plans that are aligned with KPIs and organisational goals. Focus on continuous optimisation and design experiments to ensure high performance across digital touchpoints e.g. email database growth initiatives, paid media planning/buying and SEO optimisation.
* Create dashboards and analyse various marketing datasets and to take business challenges, campaign specific objectives and KPIs to report on the effectiveness of campaigns and develop plans to deliver on each level of the marketing funnel. Provide insights into performance, recommend improvements, and measure ROI.
* Support on the segmentation of customers and audiences to drive the roadmap and inform decisions across content, editorial, lead management and client engagement. Contribute to improving automation and personalisation across all channels.
* Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, and market opportunities. Use findings to inform content and strategy decisions, share knowledgeand best practices to continually refine marketing approaches and improve campaign effectiveness.

Experience/Technical
Essential
* 3+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on digital, content creation and strategic planning
* Delivering on high-level organisational objectives as well as campaign-level objectives
* Experience in developing, organising and executing successful marketing campaigns across various digital platforms
* Strong copywriting skills, with experience creating content for social media, websites, email, articles, and more
* Using marketing insight, data analytics and ongoing monitoring/feedback to deliver customer-centric content campaigns
* Experience working with various digital advertising platforms and analytics tools e.g. Google Marketing Platform, Data/Looker Studio, Meta Business Suite, Klaviyo, CRO/Testing tools, BI/Data Visualisation Tools etc.
* Project management skills - experience working with project management/collaborations tools e.g. Slack, Asana etc.
* Identifying key market segments, analysing market insights, segmenting audiences, and conducting A/B testing for content marketing campaigns.
* Working with a team to deliver on strategic marketing goals
* Working with external agencies to achieve marketing objectives
Desirable
* Delivering Marketing and Communications activities in the Whisky, Wine and/or Rum industries

* Relevant degree, qualification or education or equivalent experience
* WSET Level 2 Qualification (or higher) and/or clearly relevant and equivalent experience/knowledge in the wine/spirts industry
Additional Info, Salary and Benefits
This is a permanent, full-time post. We are offering a starting salary between £31,000 - £35,000. A Group Bonus Scheme exists based on trading performance.
Our office hours are 08:45 to 17:15, Monday to Friday. Some additional evening and weekend work may be required to meet ad hoc events and deadlines. Flexible working is available.
