Insights Analyst
As an Insights Analyst, you will play a crucial role in shaping strategic decisions leveraging data-driven insights and analytics. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in insurance analytics, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable business recommendations.
The role will involve collaborating with various stakeholders to gather, analyse, and interpret data, and to provide valuable insights that will support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. As the Insights Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs for content and technical solutions, focusing on data-driven insights and analytics. The successful candidate will have good business engagement skills ideally from a data background, a deep understanding of the specialty insurance domain, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable data solutions.
MRSG is at the beginning of an ambitious data journey and this is an exciting time to join the organisation and to be a part of it realising its digital, data and analytics ambitions. The Central Data Office includes a Data Analytics & Insights team, which this role will be part of.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and document data requirements for various projects and initiatives within the specialty insurance domain.
2. Work closely with underwriters, actuaries, and other business units to capture and analyse data needs from various source systems (Policy, Claims, Premium etc.)
3. Present data findings in a clear and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data analytics with business goals and objectives.
5. Contribute to the development of data products, including KPIs, definitions, visualisations, and general look and feel.
6. Participate in data quality and compliance audits as needed.
7. Work closely with data engineers, developers, and BI Developers to implement data solutions that meet business needs.
8. Create and maintain documentation for data solutions, including data dictionaries, business glossaries, process flows, and user guides.
9. Learn and apply data cleansing and preprocessing techniques to ensure data quality and integrity.
10. Understanding of business processes and goals to align data analysis with business objectives.
Knowledge and Skills
1. Essential knowledge areas and skills required for the role, covering aspects of data analysis, business understanding, communication, problem-solving, project management, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
2. Basic understanding of insurance concepts and market dynamics is a plus. London Market experience/Specialty experience is beneficial.
3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from complex datasets.
4. Good communication skills with the ability to convey findings to diverse audiences.
5. Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar is desirable.
6. Familiarity with data analytics tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) is a strong plus.
7. Willingness to learn and grow in the field of data analytics and business intelligence.
