Introduction:
A young woman who is in receipt of Direct Payments is looking to employ a Personal assistant for a minimum of 12 hours / maximum of 20 hours per week. The person needs a support worker who is able to provide age-appropriate support and interactions. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client.
The main duties to be included within this role are to:
• Ability to support someone with visual challenges as well as learning disability and mental health challenges.
• Develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the person.
• You will need to be understanding faced by the visually impaired and those living with a learning disability/ mental health challenge.
• You will need to express a sensitive and compassionate attitude towards the person at all times
• Clear communication with the person in every moment is vital for this role.
• To provide companionship in and outside of the person’s home.
• Support the person to access activities of importance.
• Communicate with the person’s family and wider support network.
• Provide companionship in the persons home, including engaging in conversation with the person and providing them with social interaction.
• Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
• Carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

• Responsible and honest
• Proactive and self-motivated
• Has good local knowledge
• Good timekeeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
• Good communicator
• Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship
Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
