UI Designer Contract - 9 Months FTC Clapham Junction / Hybrid This is a hybrid role with time required in our HQ in East Croydon. However, in March 2025 we will be moving to our new HQ in Clapham Junction. As our UI Designer, you will implement our visual design strategy, leading the evolution of our design system, executing engaging, creative, and intuitive interfaces. You will be responsible for driving acquisition and user retention, engagement and enable members to get the most out of our membership and app. You’ll bring our brand vision to life and drive our big goals forward Key duties & responsibilities: Evaluate our current end-to-end experiences to identify areas of improvement and optimisation as we evolve the design system Prepare, launch and analyse findings for improvements as the design system evolves With expert Figma skills, attention to detail and accuracy build our design system with future scalability in mind Understand the brand strategy to evolve the design system to help us create designs that empower members to drive their fitness journey forward and achieve their health goals through our digital platforms. Ensure the design system will work seamlessly across browsers and platforms in a fully responsive approach. Develop visually appealing user interfaces that are intuitive, consistent, and align with and deliver our identity, values, and purpose. Develop high-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes where necessary Champion designs that adhere to accessibility and web standards. Leverage your detailed knowledge of multi-channel, integrated digital experiences to enhance the impact of design across our platforms Challenge and evolve design processes, incorporating best tools and practices to enhance efficiency and quality Champion a user-centric approach within the business for all design solutions. Keep abreast of trends and innovations that could be incorporated into our visual strategy to engage our members Close collaboration with the Marketing team and external agency to understand and implement the brand strategy. Collaborate with colleagues across the UX/UI team & Gym Works studio to foster a design community Work closely with UX designers to shape product direction using design research and user insights, to create user-centered experiences. Work closely with our Trading, Commercial, Operations, Property, Finance and Technology teams to ensure our digital experience compliments and supports the overall business strategy. Communicate effectively and clearly with the development team to ensure the design system is also aligned to their needs as a source of truth and that all designs are executed correctly. Use your excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively present and articulate design concepts and decisions to stakeholders Tools Use tools such as GA4, Firebase, Hotjar and UserTesting to aid research activities and inform the future development of our design system. Use various design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Miro or similar About you Ability to work in a collaborative and flexible way within a diverse team, from technical skillsets to stakeholders from the wider business, alongside internal and external suppliers. Emotional intelligence – Critical for navigating complex stakeholder relationships. The candidate should demonstrate self-awareness, empathy, and the ability to understand and manage emotions in both themselves and others. Presentation skills – Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders and influence the creative direction. Proven background in creating and delivering complex design systems with within Figma. Proven background in translating brand positioning and visual guidelines across digital channels, specifically app and web. Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy regarding quality of own work is essential. Organised with ability to multi-task, prioritise, work quickly and to tight deadlines.
