Job Title: Workshop Engineer
Location: Elland
Overall purpose of the job
To perform a variety of routine servicing, inspections (VOSA standards) and subsequent repairs to one or more types of Distribution Tractors and other vehicles/equipment. To perform visual or operational checks and carry out repairs as required. To carry out technical inspections or use technical manuals and diagnostic techniques to find and repair inoperable or defective machine parts, components or systems using test equipment. You will be required to undertake thorough inspections of accident damaged machines and produce accurate reports to enable repair. To observe all Health & Safety requirements at all times. You will also be required to carry out planned mobile repair work and attend breakdowns as part of the Field Service Team as needed.
Responsibilities

* To accurately and quickly fault diagnose and undertake resultant repairs, including working on a range of makes and models.
* To be able to undertake vehicle servicing, repair and other related work.
* To complete all vehicle servicing and repair documentation correctly, in a timely manner and to a good standard.
* To interpret and remedy vehicle defect descriptions communicated by vehicle users.
* To assist colleagues in the execution of their jobs as required.
* There will be an element of manual handling involved.
* To work with all departments, particularly with projects that are being explored or implemented.
* Undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or to support the needs of the business.

* To maintain a high standard of customer service at all times.
* Develop own competence to meet requirements of job.

* To maintain and develop current processes and procedures in the upkeep of the internal documentation.
Qualifications / Experience Required
* To hold levels 1, 2 and 3 City and Guilds or equivalent qualification.
* Experience of undertaking fault diagnosis and repairs on specialist vehicles.
Skills Required
* To be able and willing to communicate effectively within Workshop Management and Supervision, work colleagues and customers.
* To interpret and remedy vehicle defect descriptions communicated by vehicle users.
* To assist colleagues in the execution of their jobs as required.
* A flexible approach to working in a workshop team environment.
* A flexible approach to working hours is required along with the ability to travel extensively both in the UK and overseas as required.
* The factory unit is based in Elland; however, the applicant must be flexible in terms of working location and be prepared to work as required sometimes away at our customer’s premises.
* To be able to work temporarily at other locations within the group undertaking a similar role.
* Undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the company.
* Good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within a workshop environment.
* To liaise with the Workshop senior engineer and Workshop Co-ordinator at the commencement of duty each morning to receive guidance/instructions on Vehicle defects and related repair priorities.
* To fill in company time sheets and service reports and any other paperwork required by the company in a clear and timely manner.

Pay: From £16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38.75 – 48 per week
